If your saved list of places to eat keeps getting longer, we've got good news (and possibly bad news for your bank balance). The Peak District food scene has been particularly busy over the past few weeks, with everything from beautiful new brunch cafés and Dutch pancake houses to stylish restaurants and peaceful courtyard cafés opening their doors.
Whether you're planning a weekend walk, looking for your next coffee stop or simply love trying somewhere before everyone else discovers it, these are the Peak District openings we think deserve a place on your radar. Thank us later.

Charlotte's of Baslow
Nether End, Baslow
Some cafés tip-toe onto the scene. Charlotte's of Baslow has done the opposite, with queues forming almost as soon as the doors opened and social media filling with photos of pastries, speciality coffee and beautifully presented brunches. Created as an all-day café, it's designed to evolve from relaxed breakfasts and brunch into somewhere you can enjoy later in the day as the lighting softens and the atmosphere changes.
There's an inspiring story behind the name too. Owner Charlotte created the café in honour of her daughter, who survived against extraordinary odds after life-saving surgery before birth and weeks in intensive care. Today she's a happy, healthy little girl, and the café stands as a celebration of her strength. On the menu you'll find loaded açai bowls, freshly baked pastries, exceptional coffee and drinks including a ridiculously good iced banana bread matcha that we're pretty sure is going to go viral on TikTok at some point!
Little Miss Dutch
Cavendish Arcade, Buxton
Amsterdam is about to arrive in the heart of Buxton. One of the town's most eagerly anticipated openings, Little Miss Dutch promises authentic Dutch coffee culture complete with traditional poffertjes, homemade baked treats and the sort of welcoming neighbourhood atmosphere that's made cafés across the Netherlands famous!
Family-run by Charlotte Claessens, the café is taking over The Colonnade and has already built a loyal (and extremely excited) following before officially opening. If you've never tried fluffy mini pancakes served warm with butter and icing sugar, this is likely to become your newest obsession. It also feels completely different from anything else currently on offer in Buxton. We can't wait.
Dunston Hall Estate - The Courtyard
Dunston Road, Chesterfield
Ok, so it's not technically in the Peak District, but it's a 10 minute drive from the border, so we're including it! Dunston Hall Estate has become far more than somewhere to pick up local produce. Alongside its much-loved food hall, the estate has opened a stylish new courtyard café, giving visitors another excuse (as if we needed one) to make the trip just outside Chesterfield.
Head Chef Tom brings more than 15 years' experience to the kitchen, with menus built around seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. Breakfast ranges from Turkish eggs and chorizo with confit tomatoes to fluffy American pancakes and hearty Full English breakfasts, while lunch includes teriyaki glazed salmon, wild garlic tagliatelle, chef's pies, gluten-free battered haddock and impressive flatbreads. There is also a brilliant kids menu, including milkshakes in an array of different flavors. Find a table amongst the foliage in the peaceful courtyard - or under cover, if the weather isn't playing ball - before browsing the food hall, where shelves remain packed with the same artisan produce locals already know and love.
The Charleston
Rutland Square, Bakewell
Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll likely already know about this one. Few openings have generated quite as much fervour and anticipation as The Charleston. After years standing empty, Bakewell's former Royal Bank of Scotland building has been transformed into a glamorous all-day 1920s inspired restaurant where speciality coffee, inventive brunches, cocktails and live music all sit under one beautifully restored roof.
The £2.6 million renovation has created one of the Peak District's most striking interiors, complete with velvet booths, dramatic lighting, a restored bank vault converted into a private dining room and a baby grand piano ready for evening jazz sessions. We've already visited ahead of opening and can confirm the buttermilk chicken waffle deserves every bit of the attention it's getting.
