Every year it happens.
Father's Day sneaks up, panic sets in and suddenly you're wandering around a supermarket wondering whether your dad really needs another mug, pair of socks or bottle opener.
So this week, while we were out and about around the Peak District and Derbyshire, we started keeping a mental list of things that genuinely caught our eye. Some are edible. Some are drinkable. One involves flying over the Peak District. One we actually bought ourselves.
If you're still looking for inspiration, here's what we'd be wrapping up this Father's Day.
The Thing We Actually Bought
The Dear Dad Journal At Chatsworth Farm Shop
We weren't looking for Father's Day gifts when we spotted this.
In fact, we only popped into Chatsworth Farm Shop for a quick browse and ended up leaving with a Dear Dad journal tucked under one arm.
The book is filled with prompts designed to help fathers record memories, stories and family history. Questions range from how he met your mum to who his friends were as a teenager and what life was like growing up.
We also spotted a Dear Grandad version, which felt just as special.
It's one of those gifts that probably won't generate much excitement when the wrapping paper comes off but could become something the whole family treasures in years to come.
While you're there, the Father's Day displays are worth exploring too. We noticed Hawkstone beer, local pickles, cheese biscuits, books, damson gin and plenty of bits and pieces that would work beautifully in a homemade hamper.
The Gift We'd Buy For A Dad Who Loves Beer
Thornbridge Brewery's 20th Anniversary Gift Pack
If your dad enjoys a proper pint, Thornbridge has made life very easy.
Their 20th Anniversary Gift Pack includes two bottles of Jaipur IPA, two bottles of Lord Marples Bitter and a commemorative anniversary pint glass. At £16.95, it's one of the best value Father's Day gifts we've come across and feels a little more special than grabbing a few random bottles from the supermarket shelf.

The Gift We'd Buy For A Dad Who Says He Doesn't Want Anything
Hartington Creamery's Peak District Father's Selection
We've all met this dad.
The one who insists he doesn't want presents.
The same dad who claims he doesn't need anything, then happily spends the afternoon grazing on cheese, biscuits and beer.
Hartington Creamery's Father's Selection combines five Derbyshire cheeses, artisan biscuits, chutneys, snacking cheese and three Peak Ales beers for £58. It contains enough food to turn Father's Day into a rather indulgent and delicious weekend-long event.

The Gift For A Dad Who'd Rather Have Steak Than Socks
Denstone Hall Farm Shop's Tomahawk Steak
Let's not overcomplicate things.
Some dads don't want candles, grooming kits or novelty gifts.
They want a giant steak.
Denstone Hall's tomahawk steaks are reared on the farm, aged for 28 days and butchered by the team on site. Add a barbecue and a cold beer and you've pretty much planned Father's Day for him.

The Hidden Gem We Found
Sweetilicious In Longnor
Hidden down a little alleyway in Longnor, Sweetilicious is one of those places that instantly takes you back to childhood.
For Father's Day they're creating special £10 cake boxes filled with cupcakes and brownies in an "Amazing Dad" presentation box. We suspect these won't hang around for long, so pre-ordering is probably sensible.
The pick 'n' mix selection is also a bit of a minefield if you're trying to behave yourself.
The Gift For A Dad Who Loves Derbyshire
The Bakewell Tart Shop's Father's Day Cherry Bakewell Tart
A Father's Day gift and dessert rolled into one.
The Bakewell Tart Shop is producing special Father's Day iced Cherry Bakewell Tarts that can be collected from the shop or delivered anywhere in the UK.
It's difficult to think of a more Derbyshire gift.
The Gift We'd Recommend If You've Left It Very Late
Hassop Station
We've been impressed by Hassop Station's Father's Day display this year.
There are gifts across a range of budgets, including Peak Ales beer, novelty socks, football-themed keyrings, slate signs, bottle openers and cards.
It's the sort of place where you'll probably walk in looking for one thing and leave with three.
There's also coffee and cake available, which feels like a fair reward after a successful shopping expedition.

The Gift For A Dad Who Loves Whisky
The Wee Dram, Bakewell
If your dad enjoys whisky, Bakewell's Wee Dram is well worth a visit.
A single malt always feels like a thoughtful gift and the team know their stuff, helping steer you towards something far more interesting than a last-minute supermarket purchase.

The Gift We'd Turn Into A Day Out
Buxton Brewery Trackside
One of the best gifts is often an excuse to spend time together.
Buxton Brewery Trackside currently has Father's Day gift packs, brewery merchandise, brewery tours, vouchers and even Sock & Buskin gin available.
More importantly, it gives you a very good excuse to spend an afternoon drinking good beer and catching up.
That's a win in our book.
The Gift For A Dad Who Has Too Much Stuff Already
A Gliding Experience Over The Peak District
Some dads don't need more possessions.
They need stories.
Peak District Gliding Club offers experience flights from Camphill, allowing visitors to soar above Derbyshire's hills and valleys with views most of us only ever see in photographs.
It's certainly more memorable than another pair of slippers.

The Gift We're Keeping An Eye On
FatBuns
One of our favourite recent discoveries is FatBuns in Hartington, home to some seriously impressive cinnamon buns.
We've heard rumours that a Father's Day gift box may be in the works, although nothing has been confirmed just yet.
If their cinnamon buns are anything to go by, it won't be a gift aimed at dads who are counting calories.
Watch this space.
The Gift When You're Not Quite Sure What To Buy
A Longbow Venues Gift Voucher
If all else fails, let dad decide.
Longbow Venues gift vouchers can be used across their collection of Peak District pubs, restaurants and hotels, including The George at Hathersage, The Ashford Arms, The Peacock at Rowsley and The Maynard.
Whether he spends it on a Sunday lunch, an overnight stay or a few well-earned pints is entirely up to him.
You know what, the more Father's Day gifts we spotted this week, the more we realised most dads aren't particularly interested in expensive presents.

They're interested in good food, decent beer, family stories, a day out and spending time with the people they love.
Failing that, buy the steak!
